Holy And Blameless

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. Ephesians 1:3-4

I remember when my brother Jimbo became a Christian. One of his friends name Chris said to me in a mocking tone- “I heard your brother became a holy man”. It was actually pretty funny at the moment. But, the stinging part was that there was little evidence in my life that would have informed that same friend that I had become a Christian. There are days when I feel like I am set apart from the world and my former self and I walk holy and blameless before God. Other days are a mixed bag of struggling against the fleshly nature and wanting this new nature to flourish unencumbered. God chose me with the intention that I would be holy and blameless. That choosing can be a powerful motivation when coupled with the spiritual blessings that accompany my life now. For this I say ‘blessed be the God and Father of my Lord Jesus Christ’! By the way, that friend that mocked my brother… he is a believer today experiencing the blessings of God as well.

What spiritual blessings will be on display today in my life? How amazing that God foreknew me and had a plan for my life… wow!

Lord Jesus, You are the ultimate blessing in my life. I pray that we will have rich communication in prayer today as the Spirit of God leads and guides and puts the very words in my mouth that You desire. Would you help me offer the blessings I have to others in need. One day I will enter my heavenly home and whisper to myself- “I am so glad I chose Jesus”. I will open the door to my place, step in, and as I close the door… above it I will see “Welcome home, Doug- you were chosen before the foundation of the world”. I imagine I will marvel about that truth for a few millennia.
