Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying,
‘Thus you shall bless the sons of Israel. You shall say to them:
The Lord bless you, and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace.’
So they shall invoke My name on the sons of Israel, and I then will bless them. Numbers 6:23-27
After describing the law of jealousy and the remedies for violation, as well as the requirements for the Nazirite vow and remedies for violati0n of the vow… Moses reveals God’s motivation in giving the law. God wants to bless us! His law became the guideposts from which life could be lived in such a way that His people were blessed by Him and one another. What a holy motivation and revelation of God’s loving heart.
Do I see His commands for the beautiful motivation they contain? To love the Lord God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength and to love my neighbor as myself, bring blessings into my life.
God, I do pray that You would bless me, make Your face shine upon me, be gracious (even as You are) to me and lift your countenance upon me and give me peace. Amen. And God, may I bless Your heart today.
