Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ. Now I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold firmly to the traditions, just as I delivered them to you. But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:1-3
The Apostle Paul wanted believers to know that Jesus Christ (Our Saviour) is the “head” of every man. Consequently, man is the head of a woman (wife). And finally, God is the head of Christ. We believe that Christ Jesus (The Son of God) is co-equal and co-eternal with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. In the same way, headship for a man doesn’t make a man anything but equal with a woman. So what is headship? Wow, that’s a fascinating question for another time to expound upon. There is something in sacrificing and giving oneself for the other, in this headship.
At least that’s what Jesus did for me, and that’s what I am to do for my wife.
God, I want to fulfill all that headship requires. Reveal to me day by day how to become the head of the woman you have given me.
