Green Lights

When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. Then I said: “Lord, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments, let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father’s family, have committed against you. We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses. Nehemiah 1:4-7

Nehemiah prays a powerful prayer accompanied by fasting. He would receive an amazing disclosure from God. To which he would write this profound truth about God’s sovereignty. “I was cup bearer to the king”. In this ah ha moment, he realizes that God has granted him access and soon will give him favor with Artaxerxes. His mission is about to begin.

How about me, who has God placed in and around my life to “green light” His programs? Too often we look at only Christians or fellow church members as the source of God’s provision. But, He owns the cattle on one thousand hills. He still moves the heart of the king like a watercourse.

God, as I think about the big projects ahead of me like the raising of capital for the Community West Store and the building of a baseball field, would you move hearts and wallets to provide. Give me the courage to ask You first, then others.
