Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God. John 12:42
Nicodemus was one of the believers who didn’t go public till later. At some point we all must decide whether we want the approval of men or of God. How much better it is to seek only God’s approval.
How am I doing in this area? While I am by nature a people pleaser, I am pretty clear that I would much rather offend people and please God. Jesus had enemies. Not because He ever did anything unrighteous, but for that very reason. Darkness doesn’t like Light, nor can it comprehend it.
Lord Jesus, please help me endure persecution with the grace that You always have.
