God Is Reasonable (If, Then, But)

reasonCome now, and let us reason together, says the Lord,
Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.
If you consent and obey, you will eat the best of the land;
But if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.
Truly, the mouth of the Lord has spoken. Isaiah 1:18-20

God’s love is unconditional, His blessings are not!
The sins of Israel were personal and national and God was disgusted. Because of their duplicity, God was no longer enjoying event he sacrifices or forms of worship. “I hate your new moon festivals and your appointed feasts, they have become a burden to Me; I am weary of bearing them.” What a terrible place to be in their relationship to God. The offer goes out from the prophet Isaiah that if they were obedient, they would experience a great blessing. But, refusal and rebellion would lead to overthrow.

Is there any greed, sin, or injustice I am allowing in my life? Have I humbly sought forgiveness before God and received it? Am I reasoning with God in prayer and by reading His Word?

God, I want You to shape my thinking. I do need to bring some issues before You in prayer to find Your heart and mind on matters. Would you guide my conversations today? Please show me Your great favor and grace and forgiveness. Thank you for being more than reasonable, you are beyond reason!
