David built there an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Thus the Lord was moved by prayer for the land, and the plague was held back from Israel. 2 Samuel 24:25
A plague came upon God’s people as a result of David’s disobedience when he lacked faith and numbered the army of Israel and Judah. In his repentance, David asked God to put the punishment on himself instead of the “sheep” or people of Israel. The Lord was moved by David’s prayer. What a great reminder that God interacts with us on a personal level.
Do my prayers move the heart of God? If not, why not? Am I personally connected to God where our conversation is two-way?
Lord, would you hold back any plagues around me? Would you bring healing to the land? You are good and the glory for these things belong to You. I will praise Your name in the public square for what You have done.
