The Lord said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in executing what is right in My eyes, and have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in My heart, your sons of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.”
But Jehu was not careful to walk in the law of the Lord, the God of Israel, with all his heart; he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, which he made Israel sin. 2 Kings 10:30-31
What is right and wrong is defined by God. And, God rewards us when we are obedient to His Word and His ways. Jehu had been made king. He did much to restore the nation to godly worship by eliminating the Baal worship happening. God rewarded him for this obedience with a promise that four generations of his children would sit on the throne. If only Jesu had continued and rid the land of the worship of the golden calves, who knows how God would have responded.
How faithful am I in executing what is right in God’s eyes?
God, as we celebrate the 4th of July, Independence Day today… I pray that You would lift me up like Jehu to bring righteousness to our land. I thank you for the freedom we have and the ability to champion righteousness in a peaceful, non-violent way. What a blessing You are to America, God!
