But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:11:12
A comedian named his dog ‘Go’. Which was confusing when he wanted him to ‘stay’, because he would say ‘Go, stay!’ The Bible says to stay away from the love of money and people who are depraved and want to argue all the time. Good advice! Instead, I should ‘go’ pursue the character of Christ in my life and the purpose for which I was called.
Am I staying away from the danger zones? Am I actively growing and being shaped by God into the image of His Son? Am I clear on my calling?
Lord God, thank you for such a profound word this morning. Help me live out this amazing calling You have for my life, first, by who I am in Christ-like character and then by fulfilling my purpose. Lead and guide me by the power of Your Spirit today.
