The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the Lord will be exalted.
Many seek the ruler’s favor, but justice for man comes from the Lord. Proverbs 29:25-26
From where does courage come? In his famous ‘I have a dream’ speech, Dr. Martin Luther King says a line “I’m not fearin’ any man, for mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord”. I believe courage comes from an encounter with God and a heavenly vision of the way things should be and a conviction to pursue it. Fearing what men may say or think about me will limit my ability to achieve my God-given purpose. Trying to be like more than respected is an easy trap to fall into.
Is there anyone I am afraid of at this moment? Is there any ruler whose favor I seek other than God?
God, give me clearer and clearer vision of who You want me to be and the purposes I am to fulfill. I am so glad that before my maker, You alone, will I give an account of my life. To my own master I will stand or fall. And stand I will, for You are able to make me stand!
