THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS,
BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME.
BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME,
TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.
After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, “Hear and understand. It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.” Matthew 15:8-10
Jesus argued again with the religious leaders about the importance of having a heart for God, not just rituals and practices. He criticized them for being more concerned about dietary law and hand washing than what they were teaching.
How is my teaching? Is is in alignment with the Word of God? Is my teaching consistent with my behavior?
Lord, You called the Pharisees “hypocrites”. I want to be the real thing.
