“Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins have been forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? “But, so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,”–He said to the paralytic–“I say to you, get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home.” Immediately he got up before them, and picked up what he had been lying on, and went home glorifying God. Luke 5:23-25
Its harder to say ‘Get up and walk’ because people can see the result in an instant. But proving He is the Son of God, Jesus heals the paralytic and demonstrates His authority to forgive sins too. Amazing. The man began that day paralyzed by something. How many of us are paralyzed by the guilt of sin? Unable to have relationship with God or others.
Do I ever doubt that my sins are forgiven? Do I live under a false guilt that I have to somehow “make up” for them? Instead I can receive by faith God’s grace and trust my sins are forgiven at the cross. Now I can get up and walk.
Thank you Jesus for this reality. I am forgiven and healed.
