He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 1 Timothy 1:9-10
God made the first move. That’s what Paul says to Timothy. Before even time began, God purposed to save us through Christ Jesus. Now its all so much clearer since our Savior has appeared and the gospel has been preached. This is the reason Paul says to live holy and passionate for the Lord. It also is why Paul shares the heartache of those who deserted him. Nothing is more important than the eternal life God has given us.
In what ways does my life reflect the great and glorious plan of God? Do I cherish my salvation or are there other aspects of this life that seem more important?
God, I feel close to You when I think about how Your plan began before time itself. I often worry about the temporary when I know deep down in my heart and mind that You are in control start to finish. Oh let my faith shine as I walk in humility today, trusting You for all the results.
