Falling On Deaf Ears

falling on deaf earsDoes not wisdom call, and understanding lift up her voice?
On top of the heights beside the way,
Where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
Beside the gates, at the opening to the city,
At the entrance of the doors, she cries out:
“To you, O men, I call, and my voice is to the sons of men.”
“O naive ones, understand prudence; and, O fools, understand wisdom.”
“Listen, for I will speak noble things; and the opening of my lips will reveal right things.” Proverbs 8:1-6

Yes! Wisdom calls out and is readily available, yet so often ignored. It seems that wisdom falls, all too often, on deaf ears. With wisdom comes so much… the revelation of noble (God’s higher) things and right things as well. I was reminded this week that the outcome (goal) of education is not merely knowledge (content), but loftier and noble things like wisdom, truth, Spiritual fruit, and Christlikeness in the learner.

Is God’s voice of wisdom finding its way into my life? Are my ears open and my heart humble?

Lord, I thank you for Your Word and ways. I want to humbly ask for the wisdom from above, from Your very mind. May I see in Jesus example and teaching all I need to live this life in a way pleasing to You and helpful to my fellow man.
