For everyone will be salted with fire. Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another. Mark 9:49-50
Jesus prepared His disciples with the expectation that they would endure fiery trials in their life. They would serve to ‘salt” them, by developing Christlike character. All of us will go through times that are difficult, challenging and even persecution. These can be used by God to preserve our soul and prepare us for future use. Jesus says, have salt in yourselves. I think He means that I should embrace the difficulties and not run from them.
How salty am I? What trials am I avoiding that could be used by God to prepare me for future usefulness?
Lord Jesus, You walked through the fire… being perfectly salty already. You are my example in all things. I will face and embrace what difficulties are ahead. Would you walk with me?!
