Esther is My Grandma’s Name

Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.” Esther 4:15-16

Esther courageously prepares to lay her personal security on the line to save her people. Notice that she asks that people pray and fast with her and for her. These are powerful weapons for Christians today. My dad’s mother, a strong farm woman and wonderful grandmother to me was named Esther = Star!

We are about to begin a time of fasting on Wednesday night. A time to seek God, ask Him for a miracle in our lives and to consecrate ourselves to Him, by saying no to something we otherwise might enjoy. Its an exciting season of greater sensitivity to the Lord. I am looking forward to Him speaking and moving in my life.

Lord, may I have the attitude of Esther, having been persuaded by Mordecai what must be done, she says ‘if I perish, I perish’. Whatever You call me to, I will accomplish or die trying.
