Then the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Achbor the son of Michaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king, saying, “Go, inquire of the Lord for me, for the people and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that has been found; for great is the wrath of the Lord that is aroused against us, because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us. 2 Kings 22:11-13

Have you ever seen one of those big family Bibles in someone’s house, the one that no one ever opens and reads? That’s what Josiah found in the House of the Lord. After reading it, Josiah and the people of God adjusted their lives accordingly. Keeping the Book of the Law became a priority.

How often do I seek God and read the Holy Book? Is it my practice or does my Bible need some dusting off?

God, I thank you for how You have revealed Yourself through the Bible. I see Your character and power and love displayed. Would you move mightily in my life today? I will do my very best to keep Your Holy Law because I love You.
