Doesn’t Everyone Want Good News?

When I first became a Christian I was a bit of a witnessing fool. In my excitement about being saved and entering this new relationship with God, I told just about everybody. Not everyone was happy for me, or was interested. For me is was Good News, that God loved me, His Son lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death, and promised He would reveal Himself to me by the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit. I had heaven awaiting, peace in the present, and a guiding light and eternal purpose. Wow! This is the gospel and good news. But, I have discovered a few reasons NOT EVERYONE WANTS GOOD NEWS. Some are injured and broken, some are rebellious, and others sadly, are blinded (deceived). Oh I wish better for them. But, it is true we have an unseen enemy who hates what God loves (you), his name is Satan and he is the god of this world.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they will not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants on account of Jesus. For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:3-6 NLT

Does the enemy of my soul have any hold on me? How Is the truth of God operating in my life?

God, as this day begins- I will not be discouraged about sharing the good news. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power unto salvation to all who believe. I wonder if there is someone today that desperately needs to know Jesus? Use me in some small way to encourage them to accept His great love and reach out for forgiveness of sins and the salvation freely offered. Thank you for including me in Your kingdom and plan to redeem mankind. May I walk worthy of the calling today.
