Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. Luke 24:44-45
Jesus appeared to many people after his death and resurrection. He helped many understand from the scriptures what was happening, namely that the Son of God must die and be raised again. To help them understand, He had to “open their minds”, by sharing what the words of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms meant. How incredible it must have been to have Jesus as a Bible teacher for those days before His ascension.
How has Jesus opened my mind? Do I understand the scriptures and what they say about Him? Yes, I have the advantage of looking back at these historical events and the scriptures that predicted them. With the help of other Bible teachers, the redemptive work of God, the suffering of the Messiah, and the purpose of the Church are clear to me.
Thank you God for sending Jesus who died to pay the penalty for my sins. Thank you that His promise of a “helper” is real in my life. I know You dwell with me and in me and lead me and guide me. Today, as I watch the movie The Passion of the Christ, may I come to an even greater appreciation of Jesus my Lord.
