Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 5-9
What does it mean to be diligent in things pertaining to life and godliness? This is the list which includes the ever improving qualities of character development. And as my character (Christlikeness) improves, so does my usefulness in God’s kingdom.
In which of these areas am I increasing? Am I adding moral excellence to my faith? Is my knowledge of God growing both in experience and information? How is my control, perseverance, kindness and love? I believe I am growing in most of these areas, yet I want to grow in all.
Holy Spirit please reveal to me where I am lacking diligence and spur me on to be like Christ Jesus in every way.
