I passed by the field of the sluggard and by the vineyard of the man lacking sense,
And behold, it was completely overgrown with thistles; its surface was covered with nettles,
And its stone wall was broken down.
When I saw, I reflected upon it; I looked, and received instruction.
“A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest,
Then your poverty will come as a robber and your want like an armed man”
Proverbs 24:20-24
In this collection of proverbs the wicked and lazy are contrasted with the diligent and wise. God rewards the diligent, while the wicked are under a curse. They get temporary rewards, but incur difficulty and ultimately God’s judgment.
Do I have godly sense? Are my walls built up or torn down and overgrown? Are my priorities straight?
God, I love reading how simple You see everything in life. Help me continually keep my focus on what You care about. Today, may I be a blessing as I officiate the Quiencinera ceremony and the worship service. Give me favor with everyone to draw their hearts toward Yours.
