I don’t like to ‘stand out’ or draw attention to myself unnecessarily. There is a certain comfort in blending in. But, in some ways I am different from all the other people on the face of the earth. God is for me (His favor), with me (leading and guiding), and in me (by the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit). During the great exodus, God gave His people a sign that they were in His favor. That sign was very unique. What was it? He distinguished them from others. They had the holy law of God, His prophet Moses, and His very presence by day and night (the Tent of Meeting). As Christians we have the same to an even greater degree. That means that at times we will and must stand out from the crowd for righteousness sake, to live and love, and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ as the Savior of mankind. Let’s be distinct and different today!
For how then can it be known that I have found favor in Your sight, I and Your people? Is it not by Your going with us, so that we, I and Your people, may be distinguished from all the other people who are on the face of the earth?” Exodus 33:16 NASB
In what ways am I distinct from the people in the world around me? How evident is God’s favor in my life?
God, as this day begins- I endeavor to be who You’ve called me to be… in word, thought, and deed. Begin in my mind, work through my hands, touch my heart, and lead me. I am thinking about Geri whose daughter passed away and precious Minette who said goodbye to her sister. May I deliver and encouraging word and remember them in prayer this week. Reveal to me any area where I am ‘blending’ when I should be ‘different’ and I shall be. Thank you for Your favor in my life and family.
