Denied

As Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant-girls of the high priest came, and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him and *said, “You also were with Jesus the Nazarene.”
But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are talking about.” And he went out onto the porch.
The servant-girl saw him, and began once more to say to the bystanders, “This is one of them!” But again he denied it. And after a little while the bystanders were again saying to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean too.”
But he began to curse and swear, “I do not know this man you are talking about!”
Immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had made the remark to him, “Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And he began to weep. Mark 14:66

We are weak. God is patient with the weak. In his weakness, Peter denied knowing Jesus. What a tragedy. Thank goodness it would be remedied and Peter would soon stand boldly for the Lord Jesus. For the Bible says if we confess Him before men, He will confess us before His Father who is in heaven. How does God strengthen us? From the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit living in us. That’s why its important to daily be filled by Him and submit our will to the influence of God in our decision making, passions, and purpose.

Would I cower in the presence of a servant-girl’s accusation? How is the Spirit of God leading and influencing my life right now?

God, what a reminder that the best of us, can often be the weakest of us. I pray for Your power and strength in my life. I want to affirm my relationship with You. As this day unfolds, please lead all my conversations. Thank you for hearing my prayers this morning. Do miracles as You always have. I pray especially for my mom’s health and treatment plan. Would you be very real and close in the coming days and months. Restore her body, literally at a cellular level.
