Dead Man Walking

I never saw the movie “Dead Man Walking”, but I lived the life. No, not as a criminal awaiting the death penalty- but as a sinner under the wrath of God. Every one of us has been disobedient to God’s holy law. We have incurred the penalty of sin which separates us from God. And if we do not receive the forgiveness available and enter into a real relationship with God through His Son, Jesus- then, we will face a Christless eternity separated forever from the loving God who made us. Its interesting, that it is by ‘nature’ that we become objects of God’s wrath as we are deceived by the enemy of our soul (Satan) and enticed by worldly lusts. That is not the end of the story “But, God…” (we will start there tomorrow)!

And you were dead in your offenses and sins, in which you previously walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all previously lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the rest. But God,… Ephesians 2:1-4a

How grateful am I to have been rescued from the power of sin and death? How am I striving to know the God who made me through Jesus?

God, as this day begins- I thank You that I know how You addressed my situation as a dead man walking. As I make my way through this day, I pause in gratitude how You led me through yesterday. You gave me thoughts beyond my own. Please lead and guide today as I try to make an eternal difference. Help me prioritize catching up with my dad and Judy. Help me organize and complete the important work at church and the law office. And, if possible- I pray I can enjoy my grand-cuties Kennedy, Carty-bear, and Avery. Oh, and I thank you for my lovely wife.
