Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. Jude 3-4
Jude, the brother of James warned that certain “creepers” had entered the fellowship of believers within the church. They are without God and unregenerate. They are marked by their licentious behavior. Their lifestyle denies the Lord Jesus. We must earnestly contend for the faith. My suspicion is that they had clever justifications for sinful living. I wonder if they can be saved? Its a sobering reminder that Satan does just want to fight the church, sometimes he wants to join it. Uggh! Creepers!
Do I earnestly contend for the faith? Is there anyway I am taking license with the grace of God and justifying sin?
God, as this day begins I am aware of the cosmic battle between good and evil. I know that You are all-powerful, the only wise and true God. Reveal any creeping in my life and help me as a person given responsibility to earnestly contend for the faith!
