Here is a trustworthy saying:
If we died with him, we will also live with him;
If we endure, we will also reign with him.
If we disown him, he will also disown us;
If we are faithless, he remains faithful,
for he cannot disown himself. 2 Timothy 2:11
This saying of Paul was apparently one of the oldest creeds. In it promises are contained about the faithfulness of God and the hope of the resurrection. Its very important that we identify with Jesus Christ in a public way. That is what Paul admonishes Timothy about earlier in his letter when he says “So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.”
Have I died, endured and owned publicly my relationship and allegiance to Jesus Christ? Yes.
I love God that even in this creed You show your great grace and faithfulness and integrity. Oh God, You are altogether wonderful. My old life is dead, therefore I will live and I am living. Help me always endure and never to disown You.
