O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty, nor do I involve myself in great matters,
Or in things too difficult for me. Surely I have composed and quieted my soul;
Like a weaned child rests against his mother, my soul is like a weaned child within me.
O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forever. Psalm 131:1-3
There is a simplicity in trusting in God. The psalmist paints a beautiful picture of what we can do when life gets super complicated, busy or confusing. Like a baby resting in his mother’s arms, we can rest in God.
Do I have moments like this? Is my disposition such that I would find moments resting in Him? Yes, I am not opposed and actually have set this as a growing pattern.
Jesus, You said “come unto Me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”. Thank you for the rest you provide for my very soul.
