The righteous is concerned for the rights of the poor, the wicked does not understand such concern.
Scorners set a city aflame, but wise men turn away anger. Proverbs 19:7-8
Why do the righteous show concern for the poor? The do, because God is concerned for the poor. This proverb is followed by a very insightful reminder for those with leadership and influence. Scorners (much like the current civil rights and unrestricted immigration advocates) stir up people in the cities and cause a significant amount of trouble. Oh that they and others would use a bit more wisdom.
Do I use my influence to create anger or turn people away from it?
Lord, this is a measure of my right use of the influence You have given me. Please help me to wisely care for the poor and influence people. I want to be an encouragement, source of hope and example of Christ Jesus, not one who scorns everything and everyone.
