How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:29-31
There is a term Christians have for the mindset some have that they can “live like hell” and still be forgiven. Its called “cheap grace”. There is no such thing. While we have a real and powerful and saving grace from God that produces transformation inside out, there are some who reject it and worse yet, those who would use God’s grace as a license to sin. The Bible warns about this attitude and lifestyle.
How do I feel about God’s grace? Is it so precious to me, that I would reject willfully sinning against the very God who saved me?
Lord, while I struggle and fall to temptation, I do not want to willfully sin against You. Hide Your Word in my heart, even as You promise and lead me by Your indwelling Holy Spirit into righteousness, moment by moment. Oh, how I love You and Your grace. I receive it fully.
