catalystHe spoke another parable to them, “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three pecks of flour until it was all leavened.”
All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables, and He did not speak to them without a parable. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:

“I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden since the foundation of the world.” Matthew 13:32-35

Jesus likened the kingdom of God to leaven. The kingdom of God is a catalyst revealing the heart of mankind. It causes change and growth. Because this parable is recorded in between parables that talk about the genuine believer beside the false and unbeliever, it paints the picture that the kingdom of God will not be fully visible and delineated until the end of the age. Then, the true from the false will be evident.

What is my part in the kingdom of God? In what ways does my life reflect that I am a true believer? Am I anticipating the end of the age, or am I only living for today?

God, I hope and pray that You use my life as a witness of Your grace and love. I pray that in every conversation today I might edify other believers and inspire those lacking faith to put what little they have in You! May I be a catalyst for You.
