untestedIsaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” And he said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
Abraham said, “God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” So the two of them walked on together. Genesis 22:7-8

God tested the faith of Abraham. A faith untested, cannot be trusted; it may not be faith at all. The test was to put God first, even ahead of the son of promise. How strange it must have been from Isaac’s vantage point to experience this intense moment where he and his father go to worship and prepare a sacrifice… only to find out, he is the sacrifice. In this situation, we discover through faith, God has earned his name Jehovah Jireh – The Lord Provides.

When was the last time my faith in God was tested? Did I pass the test? What miracle did God do to provide in the situation?

God, I see You in this way… able to provide in ways unexpected. I confess its difficult at times to live by faith and trust that You have heavenly solutions to apply to earthly situations. Help me grow, day by day in this way. As this day unfolds, I thank you for friendships over the years that have remained, grown, and can be rekindled easily.
