Can My Belief = Righteousness? I Reckon It Can

Even so Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham.
The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “All the nations will be blessed in you.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer. Galatians 3:6-9

Yes, my belief in Jesus Christ makes me righteous. Faith (putting my full trust in Jesus’ saving work upon the cross and declaring Him to be the Lord of my life) puts me in a righteous position before God. This is quite amazing, because its apart from my ability to keep His holy law and to have any real righteousness of my own. In that sense, its imputed righteousness. Abraham had that same saving faith. For he believed God and it was ‘reckoned’ or accounted to him as righteousness. This amazing economy of God leads me from mere positional righteousness to actual or practical righteousness because He places within me His Spirit, who empowers, convicts, and leads me. I am so glad that I already have had my day of reckoning.

Is it evident to all that I believe in Jesus? God, what do You have for me today?

As I continue to put my faith in trust in You, would you guide me through this day? Show me who I can reach out to and love in Your name. Thank you for reckoning my belief as righteousness.
