By Your Spirit

by my spiritThen it happened when he turned his back to leave Samuel, God changed his heart; and all those signs came about on that day. When they came to the hill there, behold, a group of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him mightily, so that he prophesied among them. It came about, when all who knew him previously saw that he prophesied now with the prophets, that the people said to one another, “What has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?” A man there said, “Now, who is their father?” Therefore it became a proverb: “Is Saul also among the prophets?” When he had finished prophesying, he came to the high place. 1 Samuel 10:9-13

Saul experienced an amazing transformation. While he was literally ‘head and shoulders’ above everyone else in the land, his heart needed to be changed. He needed to know that God was with him and could move mightily through him. He needed spiritual power to govern God’s people. The same is true for us… we need spiritual power to be who God wants us to be and to accomplish the work He has for us to do.

How much of the work God has for me is being accomplished by natural power versus spiritual? How can I “see” what God has unless He reveals it by His Spirit?

God, what a privilege it must have been for Saul to be counted among the prophets. What a wonderful preparation You gave him for his ministry. I thank you that You have given me what is needed by Your Word, Your power and the continual prompting of Your Spirit. Help me be energized today to be the man you want me to be. Spirit of God come upon me mightily.
