Built to Last

Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
For when he dies he will carry nothing away; His glory will not descend after him.
Though while he lives he congratulates himself— And though men praise you when you do well for yourself—
He shall go to the generation of his fathers; They will never see the light.
Man in his pomp, yet without understanding, is like the beasts that perish. Psalm 49:16-20

A popular business book was written detailing what great companies in America were doing. Ironically, not all lasted that long! In a rather depressing dirge, Korah outlines the fate of all men, to leave nothing of a reputation behind. And yet, with the Lord we will have an everlasting heritage. We are co-heirs with Christ of all that is not of this world, but of that heavenly realm.

How much am I building in this life as opposed to the next life?

God, I want to live for what really matters, that which You value and will recognize in all eternity. So, as I make my way through this day, may You lead me to the best things. In Jesus name!
