God is the same, yesterday, today and always. He is immutable. His character is dependable. While He never changes in the sense of who He is… He does bring about changes in our lives! When you become a Christian, the Holy Spirit begins to sift your life for sin, change the affections of your heart, and impart to you the very mind of Christ. So, life is gonna change, bigtime. Sometimes the changes are delayed or dormant because we experience the first step on the “change curve” and discover everything is worse that before and further from the desired outcome. That’s normal. The first step on the change curve is down, not up. The people of God were called out of slavery in Egypt, but actually complained when God started the process of freeing them. They were forced to make bricks without straw and preferred going back instead of ahead with the changes God promised. What changes are ahead for you?
Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Why, Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Is this why you sent me? Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people, and you have not rescued your people at all. Exodus 5:22-23 NASB
In what way is my life changing right now? Have I made it through the toughest moments of change or do I desire to turn back?
God, as this day begins- I am glad for the examples of those whom You led forward to freedom. Give me and those around me the courage to continue through difficult moments in life and the necessary changes so that we become more like Jesus in every way. As I reach out to those around me today, may I be a blessing to the Lehmann family and lead them through their memorial service. Some days are bricks without straw. Others are effortless and pure joy. May I enter into each thanking You and relying upon Your wisdom and strength.
