Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips. Proverbs 27:1-2
I find it tempting to “toot my own horn”. Do you? In the business world, its encouraged… make sure others know how good you are doing. And of course, many bosses have the attitude ‘what have you done for me lately’? The Bible says to take a humble approach and not to predict what the future holds or boast about your accomplishments. But rather, let others do it. Sound advice from the wise.
How about me? Am I over-promising the results of ‘tomorrow’? Am I seeking the praise of men?
God, thank you that I can come to You in prayer and lay out my future and past and receive Your perspective and help for both. Help me be a boast free zone.
