I am passionately pro life. I wasn’t always. But, when I understood what was really going on with abortion, my compassion became equally available for mother and child. The modern sonogram has resolved the issue of life in the womb. Certainly I recognize the fear, anxiety, loss of hope that comes with an unexpected or unwanted pregnancy. I have counseled young women (and men) who are suddenly overwhelmed by the reality of pregnancy and impending responsibility of a child. I also see the child as a gift from God that may not live the life appointed for them. So, I support those involved in counseling, encouraging, and resourcing women who decide to carry their child to term… perhaps raising the child themselves or adopting out to a desirous set of parents longing for a child. What I do not do any longer is turn a blind eye. I am not a hero. But, that young mom willing to keep the baby certainly is!
Rescue those who are being taken away to death,
And those who are staggering to the slaughter, Oh hold them back!
If you say, “See, we did not know this,
Does He who weighs the hearts not consider it?
And does He who watches over your soul not know it?
And will He not repay a person according to his work? Proverbs 24:11-12
How will I participate in the Corona Life Services fundraiser this year? What compassion can I offer personally to those making perhaps the biggest decision of their lives?
God, as this day begins, one way I want to ‘hold back’ people staggering to the slaughter is by sharing the life changing message of hope and forgiveness in Jesus Christ. Help me each week preach from the Bible, the great truths of scripture leading many to salvation. Amen.
