Peter began to say to Him, “Behold, we have left everything and followed You.” Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake, but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life. My friend Billy and his bride Betty lived the better part of 20 years serving God on the mission field. They always lived with other people, training new pastors and then moving on to a new village, town or city. Finally, in Managua, Nicaragua did they actually own a home of their own for a time. Betty, got to paint the walls. Billy got to mow the lawn. Then, the Lord called them away to Paraguay. Jesus promised that anyone who “gives up” something for His sake, will eventually be paid back big time.
Do I understand that the best investing with God is investing in eternity? Yes, it is the only sure return. So, why am I fearful at times to say yes to sacrificing for Him?
God, the journey with You is what life is all about. How come I risk so little? Help me be a person of greater faith, who realizes and lives with it all on the line, knowing anything I give up with You, will be paid back 100 fold.
