I love seeing a radiant sunset, elegant animal in the wild, and of course my lovely wife. They are beautiful. One of the mysteries that is difficult to explain for people without a faith in God, is why we appreciate beauty. In a purely evolutionary sense, it makes no sense. Remember, in the wilderness experience, God instructed Aaron and his sons to be clothed in priestly attire. They were adorned in a gorgeous display of colors and fabrics “for glory and beauty”… not their own, but God’s! We as Christians are to reflect God’s glory and beauty as well. Christ in us is the great mystery revealing God to the world. Of course, its no longer the outward adorning, but that of Christlike character and love. Let’s display His glory and beauty today.
You shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty. Exodus 28:2 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9
What might be hindering the inward beauty of God in me? What attitudes and behaviors am I holding onto that are contrary to Christ?
God, as this day begins- I am grateful for your love and mercy. I lay down my ways and seek to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. May the beauty of Your holiness be on display and result in people seeing You more and more. I pray You will be wonderfully worshipped in the churches of America today.
