For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God. 1 Corinthians 1:26-29
Have you ever been picked last on a team? Others didn’t think you had what it takes to be a “starter”. Well, guess what? If you are in Christ, by the world’s standard, you are part of the B Team. Its Ok, if you seem a bit foolish and weak. For in Him, oh the wisdom and power that abides with us!
But, do I get prideful about my spiritual position? Is there any boasting from me about how smart I am, or what I have accomplished? If so, its high time I knock it off and realize again, any good in me is from God.
Lord, what a fantastic and brutal wake up call this morning. Like a refreshing splash of cool water, You have reminded me to squash the pride out of my mind. Glad to be on the B Team!
