I don’t like to sleep with lights on (unless its an afternoon nap on the couch). So I have this thing that covers my eyes in case my wife is in the nearby room with the light on. My little eye-covering blocks out the light. In the same way, too many Christians (just like celebrities, corporations, and governmental institutions) have eye-coverings on when it comes to placating people who are living in darkness and disobedience and outright hostility toward God. One example is affirming men who pretend to be women and want to compete in female sports, use their restrooms, and believe they can be pregnant. Another is making laws allowing the castrating of boys and full mastectomies of girls who are not old enough to know right and wrong. Still another is promoting homosexual relations to children and foreign nations, codifying so-called same sex marriages, and excusing pedofilia. These sex cults of popular culture are abhorrent to God and harmful to people, especially children. I could go on and on. Sin is nothing new. People are lost and suffer now and always have. But, instead of rebuking the behavior and error in love, we are “affirming” them in some bizarre mischaracterization of true love and as an expression of our “wokeness” (as if it were some godly value- which it is not). Its time to wake up, take off the eye-covering and in real love, walk as children of light (in all goodness, righteousness and truth). That’s what the apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Ephesus who endured such pagan practices in their day. How can those in the dark be rescued if the church is asleep in the light.
See that no one deceives you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not become partners with them; for you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), as you try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Do not participate in the useless deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” So then, be careful how you walk, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. Do I silently tolerate woke ideas in place of actual love? Are goodness, righteousness and truth some of my highest values?
God, as this day begins- I am feeling a bit animated because I do care about what You value… people. And lost people are being trapped, deceived, and harmed by destructive error. Truth is so rare today, that those who want to live by it, must first love it and pursue it at all costs. I pray that I remain fully awake and available to rescue those being led away to slaughter. Its heartbreaking. If I didn’t care, I would remain silent. Please protect my family from backlash of people offended by the truth.
