So the men of Israel took some of their provisions, and did not ask for the counsel of the LORD. Joshua made peace with them and made a covenant with them, to let them live; and the leaders of the congregation swore an oath to them. Joshua 9:14-15
The leaders of Israel made a hasty peace agreement with the inhabitants of Gibeon. The problem is, that they were to dispose them from the land. Why did they make this mistake? They did not ask the counsel of the LORD. Oh how often God would be willing to share His wise counsel with us, if we would consult Him. How often we are left with a lifetime of burden from a poor decision.
How about me? Am in the habit of deciding matters without consulting God? There are some decisions I have made based on my own wisdom without the counsel of God. How much better I will be if I continually pray through all matters big and small.
God, as I consider even the simplicity of the day ahead… I entrust to you the decisions. Please share with me Your perspective. Give me thoughts beyond my own so that I might know Your path and that I may make wise decisions that lead to blessings for not only me, but all around me.
