Are God’s Blessings Always Visible?

blessingsIn the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly. But they were childless because Elizabeth was not able to conceive, and they were both very old. Luke 1:5-7

Zechariah and Elizabeth were fulfilling their calling from God. He answered their long heartfelt prayer to have a child. Though they were righteous, obedient and blameless, they still were childless. In His Sovereignty, God may choose one blessing for people and withhold it from another. From the outside we may judge the receipt of a visible, tangible blessing as the only way God is revealing His favor. But, Zechariah and Elizabeth had God’s favor long before they conceived a child.

What ways has God blessed me, that I know, but are imperceptible to others? Have I thanked Him? What blessings await?

God, You are both Sovereign and powerful. There are a couple blessings I desire for my ministry area and family life too. As I fast and pray this 40 days, I look forward to what You will do to show Your affection and power. I sense many blessings within me already.
