Receive him then in the Lord with all joy, and hold men like him in high regard; because he came close to death for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete what was deficient in your service to me. Philippians 2:29 NASB
The Apostle Paul sent Epaphraditus home to Philippi to comfort and encourage the believers. He had almost died on a missionary journey with Paul. Now, he would serve as a faithful messenger between the church and their beloved founder. We should esteem people who have sacrificed for the sake of the gospel and receive them into our care with all joy.
You might wonder, “Where are the Epaphroditus’ today?” Where are those willing to lay it on the line for Jesus and risk their lives. Well, they are all around if you look. I wish there were more. This week we send a mission team to Africa to share the love and message of Christ. Meanwhile, others are ministering to foster children at a summer camp. When they return, we should receive them with joy and hold them in high regard.
Am I willing to die for Christ Jesus sake? How am I living for Him?
God, as this day begins, may I be of use to you and your kingdom! As we gather with senior adults, may Your name be lifted up, as the love of God is given and received. Inspire us to great and good things.
