An Everlasting Name Which Will Not Be Cut Off

not cut offFor thus says the Lord, to the eunuchs who keep My sabbaths, and choose what pleases Me, and hold fast My covenant,
to them I will give in My house and within My walls a memorial, and a name better than that of sons and daughters;
I will give them an everlasting name which will not be cut off. Isaiah 56:4-5

God is holy. He doesn’t change. His law is altogether right. But, His grace is what we need as well. Jesus paid the penalty for sin (every word, thought and deed that was less than God desires for me and from me). In doing so, He made it possible for a person who was practically unrighteous to be positionally righteous before a holy God. Amazing. Now, the eunuch was on the outside for being less than. But in Christ, there is an invitation inside His house, there is a future and legacy offered (when no physical legacy was even possible), moreover, a name that is everlasting! And as a fun play on words, Isaiah adds, that name will never be “cut off”. Nice touch.

How has God included me? What everlasting name and legacy am I building in service to Jesus Christ?

God, thank you for how You have redeemed me. I thank you for the opportunity to have a legacy as Maureen and I raise our children as a gift from You. Beyond that, this amazing call to be a pastor, share the gospel, and fulfill the ministry of Jesus is precious to me. I pray today, I will walk in fellowship with You as the Holy Spirit leads and guides me. May I love others in Your name and see Your power displayed.
