“A moneylender had two debtors: one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. “When they were unable to repay, he graciously forgave them both. So which of them will love him more?” Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.” And He said to him, “You have judged correctly.” Luke 7:41-43

The value we place on our salvation is directly related to our understanding of how badly we needed to be saved. The self-righteous leaning person will not respond easily with an all-out commitment to Christ. But, the one rescued from terrible darkness will wash Jesus feet with their own hair.

Do I realize that my sins and rebellious spirit toward God was as sinful as any sin? I do. When I sing the lyrics to the song “I’ll never know how much it cost, to see my sin upon the cross”, I fight the tears because even in my limited understanding, I am overwhelmed that God has forgiven me.

Oh God, You are gracious! My hair (all that is left) is available to honor you. I adore You, Lord Jesus.
