Our world is changing faster than ever before. The forces of darkness and worldly philosophy are prevalent everywhere. But, so is the sanctifying influence of God. As Christians, we believe one day Jesus will return. Our race will be over. So, what attitude should we have regarding our spiritual fervor and growth? I say, as we get nearer to the finish line, let’s not coast, instead- let’s accelerate! The apostle Paul felt the same way. He said that the night is almost gone. So rid ourselves of darkness, put on the armor of light! Put on the Lord Jesus Christ. Oh, that He might be on display in us in this critical hour!
Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we first believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let’s rid ourselves of the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let’s behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and debauchery, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts. Romans 13:11-14 NASB
Am I complacent in my relationship with God? Or, am I as excited as ever to live out this wonderful life in devotion to Christ?
God, as this day begins- I feel refreshed from some time away surfing and hanging with friends. Now, I am ready and available for Your service. I wonder what You’ve appointed for me this day. I choose to ‘put on’ the Lord Jesus Christ. May I be like Him in word, thought and deed. I will make no provision for fleshly distractions or worldly philosophies. May I instead be fully awake and ready for Your leading and guiding. Let’s accelerate.
