If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you. John 13:14-15
The King of the Universe humbled Himself and became a man. Then in another striking example of humility, he becomes like a servant/slave and washes the feet of his friends. All of this within days of the ultimate suffering on the cross. What an example of laying down rights for the sake of others.
Where am I in this area of humility? Do I always need it my way? Do I serve? Do I suffer for His sake? I am reluctant to even answer. This will be my pondering today.
Lord Jesus, sometimes I am so bull-headed. I get it in my head that somehow I deserve more. Would you help me appreciate again the example You gave me. I am certainly not above You… and its time I realize, I am not above any other.
