There are seasons of life where we prosper. Our journey is successful and accompanied by good health and provision. There is also a prospering of the soul that is independent of any externalities or earthly success. It is a byproduct of walking in the truth. This sort of prospering tells us that our destination is secure (heaven), our daily existence is in His presence and we are being transformed into the character of Christ. John the beloved apostle wrote to Gaius (joyful), that in all respects he would prosper. Oh that ‘s what I desire for you as well me beloved friends.
The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth. Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. For I was very glad when brethren came and testified to your truth, that is, how you are walking in truth. I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth. 3 John 1:1-4 NASB
In what ways is God causing me to prosper? Am I more concerned with earthly wealth, perfect health, or with a prospering soul? How am I engaging in thought and activity to grow in my faith and the grace of the Lord Jesus?
God, as this day begins- I am so grateful that Your love is expressed in a myriad of ways. I pray for my wife, children, grandchildren, brothers and their families, father, and friends. Would you prosper each in all respects so that they might glorify Your Name today? I especially pray for Josh who is trying his first legal case.
