A Prisoner Released

Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord:
“The Lord looked down from his sanctuary on high, from heaven he viewed the earth,
to hear the groans of the prisoners and release those condemned to death.” Psalm 102:19-20

Sometimes we hear about our judicial system releasing prisoners early and setting them free. Barabbas was a man released unexpectedly and Jesus was condemned. The Psalmist wanted people in the future to know that God planned to free prisoners. He would bring this hope and salvation about through His own Son, Jesus Christ. That salvation would evoke worship and praise. I am part of the future the writer saw and sang about.

How is my response? Has this salvation filled my mouth with praise? Do I realize that He heard my groans and provided me release from prison and the condemnation that was upon my life? Yes!

God, You are my Savior. I know it well. My heart is full of thankfulness. Today, I will praise You and live and express the joy of Your salvation. Use me to encourage and build others up in their faith.
